Bondi (A Brief Visit)
February 13th, 2006
I arrived in Bondi Juntion to pick up the keys to my place promptly at 1 as it says on the piece of official paper I have, to find out I’m not due ’til 3 – this is why you have a post of mostly crap.
This place is crawling with posh Brits – it’s annoying actually having to listen to the braying laughter of young Rupert no doubt on his gap year as you turn every corner. I wouldn’t mind in the slightest if they were all good ‘ol Northerners, but these fuckers grate like you wouldn’t believe. I was going to head down to the beach to kill some time but I can’t be bothered now (it’s another bus ride from the train station) so I’ll waste some time on t’interweb.
Temp: Hot
Sun: Out
Wind: Gusty
Like ever before, I’ll post photos when I take some, but there’s no point posting pics of shops ‘cos that’s all I can see here!
The Townie
February 12th, 2006
So I discovered a place known to the locals as the “Townie”, well known as the only place in the area that’s open past midnight. I ended up getting steamed in there on Friday night – didn’t get in ’til 7am and spent the rest of the day in bed. I woke up to go back into Newtown around 6pm to see what it’s like on a Saturday night.

I like it here!
I’ve just been for a wander around the cemetery and the place is a wreck. I’ve been around a fair few back home, but I don’t seem to remember them being so covered in graffiti and generally busted up. There seems to be a lot of hate towards Bush and Howard in all the graffiti too – at least the subject never changes
Moving into the new place tomorrow though, so watch this space…
Sydney…a few days in
February 10th, 2006
I’m currently living in Newtown, around 15 minute’s train journey out of Sydney central. I found a new flat today though in Surry Hills which is a short walk into town, and minutes on the train to Bondi. I’ll move in Moday so should be able to post some photos I’ve taken so far!
Newtown is one of the funky areas of Sydney, and it appears to be a big mix of allsorts of people. Apparantly it’s one of the gay areas too which may explain some of the more colourful characters.
The train system here is a bit ass backwards though – it’s not like London where areas are zoned, you have to buy tickets for individual return journeys so if you don’t want a fine off one of the fatty traffic cops (I reckon I could out run them) then you have to pay. Seriously though, the train cop dudes are like all in their 30s with big beers guts and discount cards for the burger joints for frequent visits.
George Street in central is pretty groovy (it’s all I’ve seen so far since I’ve been bolting around looking for somewhere else to live) and I managed to get a quick peek at the Harbour Bridge and the back of the filty looking Opera House. I shall return soon and document it properly!
It’s around 31 degrees here today and a bit cloudy. It’s better than the 40+ heat we were getting over in SA though. At least you can walk in this heat withough keeling over.
Off for a beer now (Coopers Pale is still on sale so HOORAY). I’m going to try and hook up with an internet friend too who lives in these parts,
Out.
Sydney Bound

I’m off to Sydney for a while tomorrow. Expect a lot more photos
British Engineering
February 4th, 2006
I spotted a mouse scurrying across the floor the other night, so Lee used his engineering prowess to construct a trap for our little friend. Using only the highest quality components, the trap would utilise a battery powered release system triggered by a remote sensory device. It was all clever stuff. Here’s the trap:

The remote sensory device in action:

British engineering at its finest.

Just completed it. The Gman can suck my balls quite frankly.

Dangerous Spiders

Lee caught this in the garden table last night:

It was a male though (well, Spiderman reckoned it was) so not poisonous, but if it WAS female, and DID bite someone AND its weak fangs DID penetrate skin AND you didn’t get to the rapid anti-venom stations in the 12 hour window AND were the one unlucky person to have the antivenom not do its thing properly since the introduction then you might just be dead.
Mr Redback was pwnt.

Spidey made a visit to our garden this afternoon. We managed to get this shot in before he flew off on his web tentacles, or something.

I haven’t drunk much beer recently because of this…

Anyone know if you can get this in the UK?
Bacon Feet (Reprise)
January 21st, 2006
It’s been around 43 degrees celsius today.
Just sayin’
That said, if you spend more than 10 minutes out in it your face becomes a water faucet and it takes another 10 mins to cool down again. Water is my friend.
Edit: Just been in the pool… Christ it’s warm out.
